Project for the adaptation of a commercial premises, adapting and fitting it out for use as a living and study space for the clients’ children. Initially we were faced with an open-plan premises, unused and ‘unfinished’.
The aim of the project was to adapt the premises by creating several independent but interrelated rooms, which would allow the simultaneous use of several children (study / play / food-snack) and at the same time facilitate the work of the children’s caregiver.
For this purpose, it was proposed to build a central module containing the office, the toilet and the shower, which is positioned in the middle of the two main spaces.
In order to achieve the most contained budget, the materials and textures already existing in the premises were used, limiting the decorative elements: the concrete pillars were left exposed and the brick partitions were kept and only covered with paint. On the other hand, to give a certain unity to the whole and in order to provide another, warmer texture, the floor is made of OSB planks. This same material will be replicated in certain walls of the central module as well as in the furniture designed and made to measure.
