The house is on the penultimate floor in a wood-frame building in the centre of Bilbao.

The overall structure and layout of the house were completely obsolete. After the complete demolition of the partition walls and ceilings of the house, detailed work had to be carried out to locate and repair the wooden structure.

The difficulty of the floor plan of this house is that it is narrow and very long so a long corridor was inevitable. The project therefore had to take advantage of it and give it an interesting personality.

The two spaces at the ends (living-dining room and master bedroom) are under the sloping roof of the building so they are higher. The corridor that connects these two spaces has been designed in sawtooth to create small living spaces with support shelves.

Another element that characterises the house is the modulation of spaces with different heights. In the living room, kitchen, corridor and main room, the heights change due to the existing wooden structure and creating a very dynamic play of light and volume.

As you can see, the living room – dining room – kitchen and entrance hall are an open space that uses a lattice and kitchen islands to create visual filters of the space.

The master bedroom is also completely open to the bathroom and dressing room.
