In October 2019, a random fire largely destroyed the Korta farmhouse located on the steep slopes of Mount Karakate, in the town of Soraluze, Gipuzkoa. Both the roof and a large part of its structure collapsed and became unusable. Even so, its imposing stone walls remained standing.
With the aim of maintaining these stone walls and, ultimately, the spirit of the original farmhouse, the reconstruction of the farmhouse was proposed.
Due to the changing needs of the owner family and the economic impossibility of undertaking a reconstruction that would cover the entire volume of the house, the construction of a small house on a large platform created on the foundations of the original farmhouse was proposed.
Maintaining a profile identical to the original, the new construction, unlike the original farmhouse, opens up to the views to the south and creates a new warm and pleasant meeting place for the whole family.
