The original house was characterised by a traditional layout, totally compartmentalised, with very dark materials and with some rooms with almost no natural light. Functionally, the relationship between the day area and the night area was not clear and generated crossed and unnecessarily long routes inside the house.
The new layout is resolved by inverting the toilet nucleus. In this way, natural light is provided to the entire back of the house, clearly structuring the day and night areas and minimising the routes.
On the other hand, the couple’s initial idea was to have a house with three bedrooms in anticipation of their future with children. Given that they did not need them initially, a phased distribution was proposed, so that at all times all the space in the home would be really useful for them.
In this project, some pieces of furniture were designed for the home, such as the bookcase in the living room (a mobile element that acts as a separation between the living room and the office), the dining room-kitchen table and the kitchen furniture in general.
